A new radio ministry to the people of Pakistan is set launch in mid-October.
Built and sponsored by Reach Beyond NZ, Sachai Radio is first of the new App-based radio stations which utilize a completely cloud based server and station infrastructure. By using the Wandering Sheep Productions Network systems, this Urdu language radio station is set to broadcast the message of Jesus Christ to the people of Pakistan directly to mobiles phones, computers and TVs.
A joint project between Reach Beyond NZ and Pakistan’s Gospel Youth Mission, Sachai Radio’s programmes will originate in Faisalabad, but be broadcast remotely from New Zealand. Gospel Youth Mission is especially known in Faisalabad for its sports evangelism programmes, featuring “Kabaddi” tournaments (a popular local game). Through this programme, many have come to know Jesus Christ and His unconditional love for them.
Beyond sports and broadcasting, Gospel Youth Mission also actively reaches out through Children’s Sunday School programmes, live drama, village video screenings, and a correspondence bible literacy programme.
For some years, Rev. Saqib, along with his wife Sameena, produced radio programs which were broadcast by a well-known Pakistani radio station. Now they are seeking to produce quality Christian mobile app-based radio programs for the Urdu speaking peoples of Pakistan and the world.
Wandering Sheep Productions (WSP) has helped with this effort by designing the Sachai Radio website, Android and IOS Apps, and by managing the entire remote broadcasting infrastructure.
Bob Arend Executive Director of Reach Beyond NZ and WSP has stated that Cloud based and App-based radio is making it possible to spread the Gospel to areas that are culturally and politically difficult to access. It is hoped that many more stations will be birthed from this new and cost-effective method. of Christian broadcasting.
