Hi – thanks so much for praying. We had a fantastic time at Festival One. The trailer-mounted Mission Pole that Robbie Pearson made was a stunning success and prompted many conversations. Praise God for supporters like Robbie and his passion for the Gospel.
What a tremendous privilege it is to be involved with a mission agency that is still true to its original intent of reaching the least reached with the Gospel of Jesus. I love how Reach Beyond, and before that, HCJB used innovative technology and methods to tell the age-old story of Jesus and his love.
Just last week we got a video that our Ghanaian worker, Alfred, took when he was out in the villages meeting with the people and doing maintenance on the poles.
The video was of the village chief telling us how powerful the pole and its message were. In the village. There is a shrine to the animist gods that some of the village worship, and he was delighted to tell us that many of the villagers were responding to the Bible readings and evangelistic messages coming through the speakers on the pole. In fact, he said, “The pole is more powerful than the gods!”
My mind immediately jumped to John 1:5 “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”. And that is why we do what we do.
Here is a little story to give you an idea of the effectiveness of the pole. Through a scheduling error, the women’s program was being played at 11.30 am every day, instead of in the evening. So what did they do? The women all walked back from the fields during the day so they could listen to the program! This is the power of the Word of God! I cannot tell you how excited I was to hear that testimony.
In fact, the village chief has asked us to provide more programming. How good is that?
We are starting to plan for our next trip to Ghana to erect some more poles. Maybe you or your church, mission team, or life group would like to sponsor a pole, or even better, get a team together to come to Ghana with us and experience hands-on mission. For NZ$9,000.00 we can erect a pole in a Ghanaian village. They are planned to be in use for at least 10 years, broadcasting every day. That’s $2.40 per day for the whole village. That is good value for money in anyone’s language and its effectiveness for the Kingdom is without doubt. It is His light shining in the darkness.
I also want to let you know that we have a video on our website that shows the poles being erected in Ghana and comments from the villagers. Follow this link https://www.reachbeyond.nz/light-to-the-nations to watch the video.
I have some great video footage of our time in the villages in Ghana that I would love to show to your church or homegroup. It is such a privilege to tell the stories of lives changed and of all the other wonderful things that are happening here in NZ and around the world as the ministry of Reach Beyond fulfills its mission of Sharing Jesus, Giving Hope, and Transforming Communities.
